It is a selective, systemic post-emergence herbicide. It belongs to the class of chloroacetamide herbicides and inhibition protein synthesis and Very Long Chain Fatty Acids (VLCFA). It is taken up readily by the hypocotyls, mesocotyls and coleoptiles, and, to a lesser extent, by the roots of germinating weeds.
