The 4th Jiroft National Citrus Festival began on Thursday with the presence of the Minister of Jihad Agriculture and a group of provincial officials, gardeners and exporters, while the people’s representative in the parliament says that the obstacles to the export of citrus fruits have not yet been resolved.
Of course, this festival was also accompanied by good news for the agricultural complex of Kerman province from the minister, because Seyyed Javad Sadatinejad announced that the authority of the agricultural sector in this province, especially in the south of the province, will be handed over to the governor and the provincial complex, so that matters do not need to be referred to Tehran. , to be solved The south of Kerman province, with unique capacities, is the place of planting and harvesting of various agricultural, garden and garden products, which is in a strategic position to supply these types of products for the whole country.
Due to the suitable climate, more than 20 types of citrus fruits are harvested from the orchards of the southern region of Kerman, which are among the highest quality, and while meeting the needs of the province, a large part of it is exported outside the province and the country.
Jiroft citrus festival is experiencing its fourth period, while this event can play an important role in introducing the citrus fruits of this region, as well as promoting the production and identifying the capacities and solving the problems of gardeners and farmers.
The head of South Kerman Agricultural Jihad Organization said at the opening ceremony of this festival: South Kerman citrus fruits are considered unique in the country due to their advantages, among which 20 types of commercial varieties have been cultivated.
Ahmad Ahmedpour added: The diversity of the climate in the south of Kerman, which ranges from 400 meters high in Manojan to 1,700 meters high in Jiroft, has caused the cultivation of citrus fruits to continue from mid-summer to February.
He continued: The quality and health of this product is an advantage for domestic consumers and exports.
Among the goals of holding this festival in the south of Kerman, Ahmadpour stated the introduction of the region’s citrus fruit in the country and continued: the area under citrus cultivation in the south of Kerman is more than 32 thousand hectares and more than 550 thousand tons of citrus fruits are produced annually. Citrus products in the south of Kerman are the healthiest agricultural products in the country.
He said: We hope to be able to introduce and export the citrus fruits of South Kerman to the Persian Gulf countries as well as Europe in the future.
